The Seven Kinds Ketubah by Ruth Rudin
In Deuteronomy 20:19 it says "Man is a tree of the field". Fruit is the tree's highest achievement in a bountiful harvest. Seven fruits crown the human and botanical harvest.
The seven kinds in the harvest are: wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives and dates. These fruits represent our basic endeavour of developing our souls. Wheat and barley are for nourishment, grapes represent joy, the fig is for knowledge, the pomegranate is for good deeds, the olive for struggles and the date for peace, tranquillity and perfection.
